Gin Elder

Gin Elderflower Cocktail

For the longest time, I just haven't been into gin. Something about it rubbed me the wrong way, which I always felt was too bad since I love the kinds of flavors normally paired with gin in cocktails — fresh floral things like lavender, violet, grapefruit and cucumber. There's something sophisticated and
refreshing about anything gin-based. So I've given it another shot, and it's worked. I especially like Hendrick's Gin which comes with its own herbaceous and floral notes.

I really like coming up with simple three-ingredient cocktails that are easily shaken together after work or on a weekend afternoon. They're perfect for spring into summer, and the Gin Elder is my new go-to.

Gin Elder
  • 1 1/2 oz. gin
  • juice of one lemon
  • 1 oz. St. Germain

Combine three ingredients and shake in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a chilled coupe glass and add a float of St. Germain if you like a more sweet than tart drink. Garnish with a lemon twist.
