Strong Week Links 28

D.S. & Durga just announced that they're now producing samples of their lovely, complex scents. I smell the next test fest coming on.

If money were no object: this new Hermès furniture.

Solange Knowles just launched e-commerce on her site Saint Heron.  It's filled with (surprisingly affordable) fashion, beauty and even candy created by a group of diverse designers. If you love her totally on-point Instagram, you'll love the vibes and editorial shots. I'd be excited to try this prickly pear face serum (love everything prickly pear).

Coveting one of these super tall, super wide-brimmed Stetson hats designed in collaboration with photographer Tasya van Ree.

Totally obsessed with this song right now.

Thrift Thrills

Thrift Store Scores
Someone recently asked me what my favorite weekend looks like. Without thinking I blurted out: long and on a road trip. Road trips are just, the best. Even mini road trips to close-by but out-of-your-everyday-way thrifting spots. It feels awesomely free and perfect to be zipping along in a car filled with your best friends watching scenery go by whether it's beautiful or boring, hatching plans for future trips, listening to your favorite songs, and wondering what you might find sorting through the racks listening to oldies, and what you might eat and drink for lunch at the obligatory post-thrifting stop. Last weekend, I did all these things, and came away with a collection of new-to-me stuff that's just so crazy it works.

Vintage Trim Hat

This vintage hat's shape and splash of orange trim called out to me from across the thrift shop. I feel like it's part Marni and part Holly Golightly.

Vintage Suede Ankle Boots
I love an ankle boot, and these are a great shade of washed-out cranberry suede.

Vintage Concho Belt
A colorful addition to my budding concho belt collection.

Oversize Tie Dye Caftan

This caftan will either be an awesome dress or cover-up, or both.

Clyde

Clyde Hat Tenoversix

How perfect are these hats by Clyde? Exaggerated but simple, they have just the right silhouettes and minimal but dramatic embellishments—like a sash that doubles as a neck shade, or a pattern of delicate lace.

Mom Style (also Dad style, Hat style)

While home over the holidays I too spent some time poring over tons of family photos. Unlike the parents of awesome fashion designers, there are no parental designer archives to speak of in this case, but my parents did have some awesome 70s style. I assume this just reflects the general zeitgeist, because in the 80s, 90s and beyond my Mom has pretty much worn Mom Jeans, and my Dad became a fairly buttoned up Republican.

P. S. - These pictures were taken at a California bullfight.
