I've been a big fan of Linda Rodin since I first encountered her amazing style, and I'm excited to try her new line of lipsticks. Especially now that my lip balm ring has run out.
Would you drink a coconut ice cream and ginger kombucha float? It sounds weirdly good, but then again, I'm a fan of weird things. Probably defeats whatever macrobiotic point there is, but I don't think rum would be misplaced here.
A cute affordable plant stand.
There is now a Baggu in Temescal Alley! Love their practical bags. Might have to pick up this puppy.
Art + roadtrips+ gas stations+ words + the American west: definitely want to check out this Ed Ruscha exhibition at the De Young.
New commute shoes I have my eye on.
Song on repeat: this

D.S. & Durga just announced that they're now producing samples of their lovely, complex scents. I smell the next test fest coming on.
If money were no object: this new Hermès furniture.
Solange Knowles just launched e-commerce on her site Saint Heron. It's filled with (surprisingly affordable) fashion, beauty and even candy created by a group of diverse designers. If you love her totally on-point Instagram, you'll love the vibes and editorial shots. I'd be excited to try this prickly pear face serum (love everything prickly pear).
Coveting one of these super tall, super wide-brimmed Stetson hats designed in collaboration with photographer Tasya van Ree.
Totally obsessed with this song right now.

Rodarte Is More Radarte Than Ever
Kate and Laura Mulleavy, the sisters behind the complex and beautiful line Rodarte, are set to release a collaboration with H&M spinoff & Other Stories (now available stateside since first writing). It's set to drop next Thursday, and while that's exciting on its own (I've got my eye on the pajama shirts and shearling jacket), what really got my attention was the Spotify playlist they put together to coincide with the launch. They're girls after my own heart, and it's made up of exactly what i'd put on a roadtrip-ready mix — Gerry Rafferty aka the Raff, El Condor Pasa, Harry Nilsson — plus some stuff I wouldn't have thought of. Much like the way food always tastes better when someone else makes it for you, I find music has an extra bit of magic and appeal when someone else plays it for you. May finally be time to invest in one of those Radarte sweatshirts.
Mari Giudicelli Shoes
Mari Giudicelli is a model you may have seen in nonchalant but super chic shots for Maryam Nassir Zadeh, Mansur Gavriel and Jacquemus, and now she’s got her own shoe line to rival MNZ’s platonic ideal of slides. “I wanted to create styles that could carry you through the day, that would be elegant, but also comfortable, and also something that’s not extremely trendy. You can wear it with a pair of jeans and a T-shirt, or you can wear it with a pretty dress,” she told Vogue. Sounds good to me. Keep an eye on her shoe Instagram for info about when they launch, and her own for everyday inspo here.

On my holiday wish list this year: ridiculously fancy candles by Astier de Villate, specifically Rue St. Honoré, Oulan Bator and Namche Bazaar (their site is worth a visit for the design alone).
Serial is back. And because I love Tim so much, I'm waiting until we can drive around listening to it together as we did with season one, even though I spend hours in the car each week on my commute.
Maybe it's the holiday season, but I'm loving the idea of tuxedo details right now.
Inspired by this restaurant designer whose interiors are so sophisticated and whose methods are so DIY.
Super cozy winter recipe.
Majorly excited for this movie release. Pretty much planning xmas around it. Want a western hat with pom poms on it.
Different genre of pom poms, but love the exaggerated one on this cute winter hat.
Southwestern Escape: Santa Fe
We spent the recent long weekend on a whirlwind Southwestern escape to New Mexico. In just four days, we aimed to take in all we could in Santa Fe, at nearby Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu and on a mini-road trip to Taos. At every turn, there was something to be inspired by: regional New Mexican food, art from contemporary to traditional, amazing Southwestern vintage (more cowboy boots than you can shake a stick at), tons of museums, breathtaking landscapes and the very special high desert, high altitude sky that changed the mood of the day from hour to hour. They don't call it the land of enchantment for nothing, and I came away with a ton of recommendations. Here I'm starting with a mini guide to Santa Fe — stay tuned for the next installments on horseback riding through Georgia O'Keeffe's Ghost Ranch landscape and staying in an earthship in Taos.
Eat
We stopped by this cute spot twice while in Santa Fe. As advertised, it's a modern take on a general store and they carry home and garden wares like ceramics, biodynamic seeds and a curated selection of books. There's also an airy open cafe in the back which was the perfect place for a light, tasty breakfast of kale and pineapple smoothies, coffee, granola and kolaches that were enough to charge you up for the day while leaving room for New Mexican comfort food for lunch and dinner.
La Choza
Sister restaurant of the popular Plaza tourist spot The Shed, La Choza (a 5 minute drive over to the Railyard area) was much less crowded with a much shorter wait. Probably the best New Mexican meal we had on our trip, they offered a vegetarian version of their satisfyingly spicy pozole and blue corn enchiladas with equally hot green or red chile.
Santacafé
When I heard this spot was a favorite of Tom Ford's, it was clear we needed to go. It opens later for weekend brunch, so show up right at 11:15 to get seated right away and avoid the crowds at every other brunch spot in Santa Fe. We sat in the pretty outdoor courtyard long enough to try their signature calamari with 4 chile lime dipping sauce (delicious) before clouds rolled in and we took refuge at a table under the eaves. Our other dishes — poached eggs on a brioche-like house-made english muffin with avocado mousse and perfectly pan-seared scottish salmon with baby bok choy — were delightful too. Be sure to take a trip inside where you can walk over the building's dizzyingly cool original well.
Cowgirl
This downhome spot known for BBQ was right around the corner from our Airbnb, so we decided we'd check it out even though we don't eat meat. Luckily they had a great vegetarian red chile quesadilla, and we also tried their crazy, unique ice cream baked potato dessert.
Shop
An incredible space on the second floor of a building on the corner of the historic Plaza, Shiprock carries a stunning collection of museum-quality, Southwestern vintage pieces — think squash blossom necklaces, traditional pottery, and an entire light-filled room of Native American textiles dating from the 1800s to the 1970s— along with mid-century modern furniture, contemporary art and new items from the Americana-inspired Japanese brand Visvim. It's so beautifully curated and the staff were so friendly (refreshing in a rarefied gallery setting), I can't recommend visiting enough.
Boots, boots, boots! This is the place if you're looking for a vintage pair of cowboy or cowgirl kickers. They also have men's and women's vintage clothing, hats and accessories.
See
This unique museum houses the vast vision and collection of Alexander Girard. An architect and designer who worked for clients like Herman Miller, he was also an obsessive collector of folk art. The exhibition is laid out in a really interesting way that visually communicates the similarities of folk art throughout the world by juxtaposing pieces from different countries and minimizing textual explanation.

It's a lively, colorful riot of chockablock dioramas depicting entire Mexican towns, masks, textiles, woven birdcages, grave decorations from Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris and so much more. Another exhibit revealed the history of natural red dye cochineal. It traced its rise as a highly prized commodity on the level of silver, and the ways in which it traveled from the old world to the new and back again, influencing the fashion across the globe along the way.

Stay
We stayed in a cozy casita with a spiral staircase and rooftop terrace close to the Railyard/Guadalupe district. The neighborhood was made up of traditional adobe buildings, and was beautifully green and leafy. A half mile from the Plaza and a short walk to spots like Cowgirl and Kowboyz on Guadalupe St., it was close enough to everything to serve as the perfect jumping off point, yet felt far enough away to feel secluded from the crowds.Strong Week Links 11
Marques'Almeida won the coveted top LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers. Viva denim!
Excited to dive into the summer issue of the Desert Oracle. Especially the article about buying property at tax auctions.
Did you hear that Serial is coming back for two more seasons?! The stories they'll cover are still top secret, but I can't imagine they will be any less addictive or compelling than season one. Luckily this time they're producing two seasons at once so there will be less of a wait for the next installments.
Loving SF-based online shop Lisa Says Gah. Especially their interview series.
Super excited about planning our first trip to Austin for Fun Fun Fun Fest!

Earthship: Earth Tu Face

This weekend I visited newly opened Oakland shop Earthship, the brick and mortar location for natural skincare line Earth Tu Face. Created by two local herbalists, Earth Tu Face's products are made of food grade, plant-based ingredients, but still have a luxury vibe to them (they're inspired by Alice Waters and available at Net-a-Porter, to give you an idea). Earthship showcases the line's serums, scrubs, balms and cleansers and more.
They also carry beauty products by other brands, like nail polishes by Floss Gloss (started in Oakland and now based in Brooklyn — their polishes have great names) and fragrances by Regime des Fleurs. Plus there's a small, curated collections of clothing, homewares, art and jewelry.

I chatted with the retail manager, Madeline, who told me they plan to hold workshops and events in the space adjoining the shop where they make the products — it's like a magical apothecary workshop in a charming old carriage house garage, where the shelves are lined with their organic ingredients and the ceiling is strung with lights and beautiful dried plants. She said she planned to post the schedule on the door outside, so if you're in the neighborhood, stop by and check it out!

Ryan Roche
Ryan Roche makes the most beautiful cashmere knits and angora hats in the perfect palette of black, grey and blush. The look is romantic, vintage-inspired and western wrapped together in the best way. Plus, her knits are produced by a women's cooperative in Nepal, combining sustainability with high-quality production. Love it. Shop at Mille and Founders & Followers.
Back In White
Not only am I very excited to be working at The RealReal, I'm already addicted to shopping the site. The sheer volume of new arrivals is staggering and there are some truly great finds—it's luxury consignment, so imagine high-end eBay where everything is legit. Case in point, this new Carven moto jacket I'm obsessed with. I'm more adjusted to my new sched, and have been thinking about lots of things I want to share here, so stay tuned!
Spanish Avarcas
You can also pick up a pair from Avarcas USA — a company founded by a Spanish family living in San Diego who have brought Avarcas to the States — where there are a bunch of styles and colors to choose from including metallics and wedges. Vivavarcas!
